As we close the first half of our autumn term, we’re thrilled to share the inspiring progress and achievements that have shaped our journey at The Greenhouse HyFlex Academy. Our Autumn 1 Round Up newsletter showcases the dedication, growth, and remarkable milestones that make our educational community truly unique.
This term has been particularly special as we welcomed students back and celebrated the phenomenal achievement of awarding City & Guilds Functional Skills qualifications to those who sat exams at the end of last term. As our Director of Education, Tara Jones, reflects “for some of our young people who have been out of education for a number of years, returning to the classroom and taking formal examinations represents a tremendous accomplishment.” These students have now become inspiring role models for our new cohort preparing for their own Functional Skills exams later this academic year.

Achievements & Futures
We’re committed to helping our students explore their futures through comprehensive career coaching. This term, all young people participated in one-to-one coaching sessions designed to help them plan their next steps. These sessions included skills audits to identify strengths and development areas, guidance on college open days, and discussions about future careers and work experience opportunities. We’re particularly proud to congratulate our Deputy Head, Fiona Conde, who recently passed her Level 7 Senior Careers Leadership Course from Wolverhampton University, further strengthening our careers provision.
Individual student achievements have been equally impressive. One student with aspirations to become a firefighter recently completed Fire Marshal training and now serves as our student representative at The Greenhouse. Another student will be working with our maintenance team over half-term to install new display boards, gaining valuable hands-on experience.
We’re also embracing the future of learning by introducing micro-credentials and digital self-directed learning opportunities. With national data showing that enrolment in digital skills training has doubled year on year, and employers now ranking micro-credentials among their top three sought-after qualifications, we’re ensuring our students can access these valuable pathways to lifelong learning and employability.

Our PSHE curriculum remains at the heart of our provision. Every Tuesday, we combine PSHE with outdoor education at Tattenhall Outdoor Education Centre in the Cheshire countryside, offering a flexible, needs-led approach that helps young people navigate life confidently and responsibly while building emotional resilience and decision-making skills.
The half-term concluded with our Halloween celebration, an event of costumes, laughter and genuine connection that reminded us why these moments matter. We’re grateful to our staff who transformed our space into a spooky wonderland, making the magic possible while celebrating achievements in vocational courses and exam successes.
