Activities & Resources for January

🖼️ Vision Board Creation – Design your dreams.

A vision board is a creative and enjoyable way to visually map out your aspirations for 2025. Use magazines, printouts, or draw and write your goals on a poster or digital canvas.
  • How to get started:
    • Identify your top aspirations for the year – both personal and professional.
    • Gather materials (magazines, scissors, glue, pens) and set aside some quiet or group time to create.
    • Use categories such as career, health, relationships, and self-care for inspiration.
    • For young people: Make it interactive by asking what excites them or what they’d like to achieve this year (school goals, hobbies, or fun activities).
Encourage group sharing to inspire one another and build connections. Place finished vision boards somewhere you’ll see daily as a reminder of your goals.

Goal Setting - Set your sights high.

Creating clear and achievable goals helps focus your energy for the year ahead. Take time to outline both short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Activities for staff:
    • Use the SMART Goals technique to frame goals in a specific and actionable way.
    • Break down one large goal into small, daily or weekly steps to keep it manageable.
    • Find an accountability buddy at work to check in on progress.
  • Involve young people:
    • Introduce a fun worksheet or guided session to explore their interests. Ask:
      • What’s one thing you want to achieve by the end of this month?
      • What are you excited to try or learn this year?
    • Celebrate even small milestones with them to encourage their persistence.

The Try Something New Challenge

A wall that has some writing on it
Step out of your comfort zone.
This month, challenge yourself and young people to break from routine and explore something completely new.
  • Ideas for staff:
    • Enrol in an online course, start a journal, or sign up for a workshop.
    • Try something hands-on like cooking a new recipe or creating DIY crafts.
    • Engage in a physical challenge: yoga, dancing, or even a new sport!
  • Encouraging young people:
    • Pair up and do an activity they’ve always been curious about—whether it’s making art, learning a TikTok dance, or exploring the outdoors.
    • Host a “Share Your New Skill” day where everyone demonstrates what they’ve learnt!

Capture photos or videos along the way to highlight achievements, big or small.

Motivation Jar

Small moments, big impact.
Start a Motivation Jar in your home or office space to capture positivity throughout the month.
  • How it works:
    • Grab a jar and label it “Motivation.” Provide slips of paper nearby.
    • Encourage everyone to write one thing a day they are proud of, a motivational quote, or a small win they’ve achieved.
    • For example: “I helped someone today,” or “I’m proud I tried something new!”
For young people:
  • Make it colourful! Let them decorate the jar and personalise their notes.
  • Organise a special reflection session at the end of the month to go through the notes and celebrate successes together.
A jar full of encouragement is a heart-warming way to see progress and lift spirits.
