Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England)

This course can either be done as a qualification or an apprenticeship and will develop the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in a residential childcare setting, including an understanding of child and young person development.

The qualification enables the learner to gain essential skills and knowledge to support children and young people in residential childcare settings, including: wellbeing and resilience, positive relationships and attachments, health and safety, sexual exploitation, communication, positive behaviour and positive outcomes.

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification will be for people working with children and young people.  It will develop the knowledge and skills needed when working in environments with children and young people in a residential childcare setting, including an understanding of child and young person development.

The learner will gain essential skills and knowledge to support children and young people in residential childcare settings, including:

  • well-being and resilience
  • positive relationships and attachments,
  • health and safety
  • sexual exploitation
  • communication
  • positive behaviour and positive outcomes.

 

It also offers the learner the opportunity to cover optional topics which are particularly suited to specific residential childcare and respite care settings.

 

How long will this qualification take to complete: Approximately 12 months (if not completing through and apprenticeship)

How long will this apprenticeship take to complete; 24 months apprenticeship + 8 weeks End Point Assessment
